Five Questions with Bami, CLIC Program Manager

  1. What is the CLIC program, and who is it designed for?

Bami: CLIC (Certifications for Leadership in Cybersecurity) is a comprehensive training program that equips individuals with the necessary skills to thrive in cybersecurity. It’s designed for anyone interested in cybersecurity or those looking to enhance their career with specialized skills.

  1. What makes the CLIC program unique compared to other cybersecurity training programs?

CLIC stands out due to its rigorous curriculum, strategic partnership with the SANS Institute, and opportunity for dual-certification. Participants earn two globally-recognized GIAC certifications while engaging in hands-on training in the Catalyst Cyber Range. Additionally, the program offers career mentorship from leading experts and connections with major employers in the sector. This is a huge advantage that our participants get, setting them up for success in the field.

  1. What career support do CLIC students receive, and what job outcomes can students expect?

As a CLIC student, you will get exclusive access to many career resources, including resume-building and interview preparation workshops, one-on-one coaching, coffee chats with cyber leaders, and employer recruitment events.

Our grads land roles as SOC Analysts, Information Security Analysts, Governance, Risk, and Compliance Analysts, Cybersecurity Project Managers, Security Awareness Specialists, and Cybersecurity Technical Writers, just to name a few.

  1. What excites you the most about the CLIC program?

It’s impossible to pick just one thing. I am particularly proud of our work closing the gender gap in cybersecurity. Through partnerships with RBC and Rogers Communications, we offer scholarships for women and non-binary individuals enrolling in the program. Our focus on diversity and inclusion ensures that our graduates bring diverse perspectives and skills to their roles, which is crucial for tackling the complex challenges in cybersecurity.

  1. Finally, what advice would you give someone wanting to enter the cybersecurity field?

My advice is to stay curious and never stop learning. Cybersecurity is a rapidly evolving field, and keeping up-to-date with the latest trends, threats, and technologies is crucial.  I would also add that networking with other industry professionals is key. As soon as you join the CLIC program, you will get access to our Catalyst Alumni LinkedIn Network, which will be immensely helpful as you build your cybersecurity career.
