The Catalyst’s Founding Executive Director, Charles Finlay, joined CBC Radio on Thursday, March 5 for 10 interviews across the country including Vancouver, Quebec City, Regina, Whitehorse and more, to address the risk of cybersecurity attacks to critical infrastructure amid the war in Iran.
Charles discusses the Canadian Centre for Cybersecurity’s warning that Iran could deploy cyber operations targeting Canada amid rising geopolitical tensions and what potential attacks on our critical infrastructure, could look like. He outlines additional risks, including disinformation campaigns, online harassment of political leaders, and targeting of Western ideology.
While stressing the importance of vigilance, Finlay notes that there is currently no reason for public panic, underscoring that cybersecurity awareness and preparedness should remain a constant priority.
