What is the Catalyst Cyber Clinic?

One of the first of its kind in Canada, the Catalyst Cyber Clinic provides free cybersecurity support to under-resourced non-profit and other community organizations across the country.

How it works

The Catalyst Cyber Clinic provides cybersecurity consulting to non-profit organizations. Clinic services are delivered by Consultants, who are graduates of Catalyst cybersecurity workforce training programs. The Consultants, in turn, are supervised by industry Mentors and clinic staff to ensure high-quality results.

Consultant teams are assigned to eligible non-profits to assess their cybersecurity needs, gather information, and make easily implemented, low-cost recommendations.

This Cybersecurity Action Plan is provided free of charge, and:

  • Identifies strengths and gaps in the organization’s cyber posture
  • Prioritizes meaningful security enhancements that the organization can make immediately

Time commitment

The engagement between your organization and the Consultant team lasts approximately 4-6 weeks. Activities can be conducted virtually.

You or members of your team will likely devote between 8 and 10 hours total over the course of the engagement. Activities will include meeting with the Consultant team, providing documentation, and providing access to key staff.

Participation from your senior leadership is required throughout the process.

Program benefits

Your organization will receive a unique, personalized Cybersecurity Action Plan which contains prioritized recommendations for your team to implement.

The Cybersecurity Action Plan is a robust document. It is designed to:

  • Immediately enhance your organization’s security with actionable first steps
  • Provide the knowledge and tools to safeguard your organization’s core assets and most sensitive digital information
  • Create clarity and confidence in the path forward, rather than adding complexity
  • Be the first step in creating long-term cybersecurity strategies and policies

You do not need to have a dedicated IT staff or cybersecurity officer to participate in the program. The Cyber Clinic is designed to assist organizations with limited resources, and the Consultant team’s recommendations will offer guidance on how to leverage your existing resources more effectively.

The engagement with Cyber Clinic is free to eligible organizations.

How to apply

The Catalyst Cyber Clinic is in its pilot stage and will open for applications soon.

Future applications for Cyber Clinic support will take place via an online form, in which you will be asked to confirm that your organization meets the eligibility requirements.

You will also be asked to answer multiple-choice questions relating to your organization’s cybersecurity maturity and existing resources, and confirm your commitment to implementing the recommendations provided.

Organizations that are accepted based on this application will be given a 30-minute interview with Cyber Clinic staff to ensure the program is the right fit.
