Harry Foy
With 20+ years in cybersecurity, Harry Foy has held roles at HSBC, KPMG, Suncor, TELUS, and the Government of Canada. But his new passion is helping others break into and thrive in cybersecurity careers.
It was during a career break that Harry developed a Post-Degree Diploma course on professional development — one that received incredible feedback. That’s when he realized something: Career coaching isn’t just about resumes and interviews — it’s about meeting people where they are.
“I never planned to become a career coach,” he says. “But I love tailoring my advice to each person’s personality and values.”
Although Harry comes from a technical background, he emphasizes that soft skills make the biggest difference in cybersecurity hiring. “It all comes down to personality and passion,” he explains. “Do you have a genuine interest in the position? Can you articulate your ideas and tailor your communication to different stakeholders? Do you understand the business”
Since joining our CLIC program as a career coach, students have been raving about Harry’s expertise and guidance. His ability to break down complex career challenges in various cybersecurity roles and offer personalized strategies has made him an invaluable mentor.
