The Challenge

Brampton is a powerhouse of Canadian industry, but with connectivity comes vulnerability. The Brampton SecOps Hackathon focuses on two vital sectors currently facing escalating cyber threats:

Securing Canada’s Food Infrastructure and Multi-Modal Supply Chains

How food reaches our tables and how goods cross our borders are problems most people never think about, until these services are disrupted. Canada’s agriculture and agri-food system generated $149.2 billion in GDP in 2024 and accounts for 1 in 9 jobs nationwide, while the transportation and warehousing sector contributed $96.5 billion to the economy and facilitates the movement of trillions of dollars in trade through Canada’s key corridors each year. Brampton plays an integral role in the agriculture and transportation sectors. These operations rely heavily on Operational Technology (OT) and integrated supply chains, and a single ransomware attack or cyber incident can stop food production and disrupt supply chains at scale. The Brampton SecOps Hackathon focuses on these two vital sectors currently facing escalating cyber threats.
