Future Votes: Cybersecurity, Disinformation & Election Integrity
Future Votes reflects key findings from a closed expert discussion held in October 2024 in Toronto, convened by the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society, the Dais, and the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst. The event brought together cybersecurity and disinformation experts from government, academia, industry, and the nonprofit sector to examine how well-positioned governments are to respond to current and future election-related security concerns.
The discussion included two sessions: one focused on cyber threats to election infrastructure, and another exploring the information ecosystem surrounding elections. Together, the insights captured in the report highlight the growing intersection of cybersecurity, disinformation, democratic resilience, and public trust.
