What is the Catalyst Cyber Clinic?
One of the first of its kind in Canada, the Catalyst Cyber Clinic provides free cybersecurity support to under-resourced non-profit and other community organizations across the country.

How it works
The Clinic is staffed by certified graduates from Catalyst cyber training programs. These graduates are supervised throughout their client engagement by Mentors, who:
- Ensure the quality of the cybersecurity consulting services delivered
- Support the professional development of the Consultants
- Model ethical and professional conduct at all times
Mentors meet with their Consultant teams weekly to ensure the project is achieving high-quality results for the client organization, and to provide coaching and career development advice.
Time commitment
The time commitment for Mentors for each client engagement, including training, is approximately 6-8 weeks. Tasks include:
- Onboarding session with the Catalyst
- Supporting the Consultant team’s service delivery to the client organization over 4-6 weeks, including attending weekly meetings and reviewing team deliverables
- Providing updates and feedback to Catalyst program staff and assessments of consultant performance
Mentors are asked to commit to supporting a minimum of two client engagements. Hours should not exceed two hours per week during each client engagement, including occasional meetings during business hours. Activities can be conducted virtually.
What we offer
Mentors are engaged under an independent contract services agreement, and can bill at a rate of $100 plus HST per hour for their time on the project (up to a monthly maximum).
Additionally, you will:
- Join a vibrant network of mentors, industry professionals, and non-profit organizations associated with the Catalyst
- Get access to program tools, templates, and other support for your mentorship
- Give back by improving the cyber maturity of community organizations
How to apply
We have already identified Mentors for participation in the pilot program.
Future applications for Mentor roles will take place via an online form, in which you will be asked to confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements.
Select applicants will then be invited to a 30-minute interview with Cyber Clinic staff.
