Mastercard renews commitment to strengthen Canada’s cyber ecosystem with Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst at TMU

Through its continued support of Catalyst, Mastercard reaffirms its leadership in cybersecurity innovation and workforce development, ensuring that Canada remains at the forefront of global cyber resilience.

Brampton, ON – March 10, 2025 – Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst (“the Catalyst”), Toronto Metropolitan University’s national centre for training, innovation and collaboration in cybersecurity, is proud to announce that Mastercard Canada is building on its commitment to strengthening Canada’s growing cybersecurity ecosystem. The company has renewed its support of the Mastercard Emerging Leaders Cyber Initiative (ELCI) and is expanding its investment to include the Catalyst Cyber Clinic – a new program launching later this year.

The continued partnership between Mastercard and the Catalyst ensures that ELCI, now entering its fourth year, will remain committed to empowering women and non-binary mid-career professionals in cybersecurity, equipping them with the appreciation of digital risk and executive leadership skills required to advance their careers.

The addition of the Catalyst Cyber Clinic funding will provide much-needed cybersecurity support to non-profits and social impact entities across Canada, at no cost to the organizations. The clinic will provide tailored cybersecurity assessments, training, and direct support to organizations that need it most.

Mastercard recognizes the critical need to empower individuals and organizations in Canada’s rapidly expanding cybersecurity sector. Their commitment reflects a focus on providing opportunities, resources, and support to help cybersecurity professionals and vital non-profit organizations succeed.

The Catalyst is dedicated to developing innovative programs that deliver real impact, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge they need to navigate a complex cyber risk landscape. Mastercard’s partnership is vital in advancing these efforts and driving meaningful progress in the industry. Beyond financial support, Mastercard plays an active role in the ELCI program, engaging directly in learning modules and remaining involved throughout the entire curriculum to support participant growth and market readiness.

“Mastercard Canada’s ongoing support has been instrumental in the success of the Emerging Leaders Cyber Initiative,” said Trish Dyl, Director, Skills Development & International Programs at the Catalyst. “As we enter our fourth year, we are proud of ELCI’s impact in developing skilled cyber leaders and advancing diversity in the field.”

“Cybersecurity is a critical issue for non-profit organizations of all sizes, as they face significant challenges securing their operations,” said Katie Gibson, Director of Catalyst Cyber Clinic & Policy Insights at the Catalyst. “Later this year, the Catalyst Cyber Clinic will bridge this gap by providing hands-on support and expert guidance, helping these crucial organizations protect themselves in an increasingly digital world. We are incredibly grateful for Mastercard’s leadership in recognizing the need for this initiative and investing in the future of Canada’s cyber resilience.”
